Our State Magazine features 22-pages of stunning photography of Historic Beaufort, NC and Hungry Town Tours. The photo essay ‘Beaufort by Bike’ is one of the highlights of their annual Coastal Issue (June 2017).

“As Betsy and her tour groups gently glide through downtown, she stops occasionally to tell stories plucked from 300 years of coastal history. But mostly, she lets the town speak for itself.”

Our State Magazine is North Carolina’s premier statewide magazine devoted to travel, history, people and places. “Around Town: Beaufort” by Our State

Our State Magazine launched a new series, Around Town! They visit small towns across North Carolina and let locals show you “around town”. First in the series is Beaufort guided by, you guessed it, Betsy Cartier of Hungry Town Tours.

“With more than 300 years of history and a breathtaking view of the water, this town has no shortage of things to drive, boat, bike, and walk to. See the places and people that make our historic seaport special.”

Hungry Town Tours was thrilled to be asked to participate in this new video. After a 14-hour photo shoot, the video was released in July 2018.

“The South’s Best” by Southern Living

Southern Living named Beaufort, North Carolina the “South’s Best Small Town” in 2019. The article featured Betsy and David Cartier of Hungry Town Tours.

Travel editor Betsy Cribb explains how the couple chose Beaufort, “Two and a half minutes—that’s how long it took Betsy and David Cartier to decide Beaufort was the place they would settle down for good. For three years, the hospitality vets had searched the North Carolina coast for a year-round city with tasteful tourism, and, in an instant, Beaufort filled the bill.”

“These days, locals know exactly who Betsy is when they see her riding around.
For six years, she and David have owned Hungry Town Tours, introducing hundreds
of guests each year (some on bikes and some on foot) to Beaufort’s many charms,
from waterfront eateries with delicious fresh seafood to landmarks
made famous by Nicholas Sparks’ novels (the most popular of their 16 tours).”

Forbes features Hungry Town Tours

Forbes featured Hungry Town Tours owners’ Betsy and David Cartier in an article “They Ditched Their Jobs To Live In Their Dream Destination.” The story highlights their journey to make Beaufort their new hometown.

Editor Jeryl Brunner explains “They set out to find the ideal place to establish roots. They had three non-negotiable requirements for their locale: It needed to be on the water, had “tasteful” tourism and operated all year long (versus seasonally).”

“One day he (David) stumbled upon a Facebook page for Hungry Town Bike Tours. It turned out the business was available to purchase.” They changed the name to Hungry Town Tours after adding walking tours.

“Betsy unpacks 300 years of Beaufort history as guests meander though quiet streets lined with fetching homes with giant porches and fascinating plaques for which the region is known.”

“Since Betsy and David moved to Beaufort they have become sort of unofficial ambassadors of the town.”
