North Carolina Shrimp Tour

Tour Description

On the North Carolina Shrimp Tour, you’ll enjoy delicious samplings where the main dish is fresh local shrimp! Your guide will share stories about Beaufort’s history, as you see the many ways that shrimp is prepared. You’ll also receive recipes paired with oils and vinegar to create their own shrimp dishes at home.

At the end of the tour, each couple will receive one pound bag of local shrimp packed for travel from Fishtowne Seafood in Beaufort. Single participants receive one-half pound of shrimp.

Since its inception in 2004, Fishtowne has focused on buying local seafood harvested by local fishermen. The shrimp come wrapped in authentic fish net from the original Net House in Beaufort. Known locally as the Seine House, the nets were made in Beaufort. So, participants get to take home a small piece of Beaufort’s maritime history.

The North Carolina Shrimp Tour is limited to a maximum of eight (8) participants, allowing for a more intimate and manageable group that offers you maximum enjoyment.

Reviews

“Hungry Town (Bike) Tours offers culinary tours — shrimp and oyster and more — bicycle tours around Beaufort. The three-hour rambles make a handful of stops, and might be the most fun way to sample and see the town.”
— 919 Magazine

“What a fun day on the Shrimp tour. The three restaurants were outstanding and we had a great variety of shrimp dishes. The shrimp we brought home were tasty and the netting they were wrapped in is a wonderful keepsake.”
